West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced that the West Bengal Board's higher secondary (HS or Class 12) examination will be conducted in June.
WB 12th Board Exam 2020 Latest Update: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has announced that all pending papers of class 12th Board Exam or HS / Uccha Madhyamik Exam will now be held in June 2020 due to COVID-19 lockdown. She also confirmed that Class 11th students as well as college students will be promoted to the Class 12th, grade without exams, as per media news reports. The decision to hold pending exams of WBCHSE Board for WB 12th / HS Class students comes in the light of the recent extension in the COVID-19 lockdown announced by PM Modi until 3 May 2020. Earlier, West Bengal CM had also announced that all schools and colleges in the state will remain closed until 10th June 2020.
Exams Delayed due to Covid-19 Outbreak
According to the official schedule announced earlier, the West Bengal Board 12th Exam 2020 were scheduled to be held from 13th March 2020 and conclude on 27th Mar,2020. However, they were postponed until 15th April 2020 due to national lockdown announced due to Covid-19 outbreak. However, with extension in the lockdown the exams have been postponed further and revised dates for the same will be announced by the WBCHSE Board soon after lockdown is lifted.
Madhyamik Exams 2020 Concluded, Evaluation Work in Progress
While West Bengal CM has confirmed details about Uccha Madhyamik Exam and Promotion of 11th Class students, she has not provided any details about WB Madhyamik Results 2020 that is awaited by the students. Madhyamik Exam i.e. WB Class 10th Exam 2020 was concluded by the state board i.e. WBBSE before the commencement of lockdown. Currently, the evaluation work for the same is going on to ensure timely declaration of WB Board 10th Result 2020 once the lockdown is lifted. However, neither the board nor the state government has yet confirmed any date for the declaration of results. But, sources close to the board have hinted that as evaluation work is already in progress WB Madhyamik results will be declared within two weeks of lifting of lockdown in mid-May.
