The half-yearly exams for Class 10 in Tamil Nadu, initially slated to commence today, have been postponed due to the impact of Cyclone Michaung. The TN school education department has rescheduled the exams to begin on December 11, adhering to the previously announced schedule. Notably, exams originally planned for December 7 and 8 will now take place on December 14 and 20, as reported by the Times of India.
Revised dates indicate that the Class 12 language paper will be held on December 14, while the English exam, initially scheduled for December 8, is rescheduled for December 20.
In the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has requested interim relief of Rs 5,060 crore from the Centre. The northern districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpet, are reported to be the most severely affected regions.
Addressing the situation, CM Stalin shared on X, 'The floodwaters in Chennai's suburbs are still inundated. Many people are working in the field to ensure that everyone gets basic necessities like food and milk. We are continuing our fieldwork with the hope that the situation will improve soon!'
For Classes 6 to 11, the half-yearly exams remain as scheduled, with no postponement. Updates on the exams for these classes will be announced by the education department after a thorough review of the state's situation.
