The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has introduced improvement exams and compartment exams for HSLC and HSSLC students from this academic year 2023 in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
In order to facilitate students to improve grades and marks to pursue higher education with their choice of subject, provision is given to High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) students to appear in NBSE Class 10 and Class 12 improvement exams 2023, the official statement read.
“Provision for candidates who qualified at the HSLC examination but secured Needs Improvement in one subject will be given an opportunity to reappear in the Needs Improvement subject at the immediate examination,” it said.
Additionally, HSLC and HSSLC compartmental exams have also been introduced. Students appearing in the NBSE Class 10, 12 board exams will get two chances to appear in the compartmental exams to clear the failed subjects and to prevent dropout rates in the state.
This year, the Nagaland Board conducted the NBSE HSLC 2023 exam from March 10 to March 22 and HSSLC 2023 from March 9 and March 31. The board has also directed all schools in the state to inform the students, parents about the new rules introduced for improving scores in the board exams 2023.
“The board has revised the existing rules to align with the NEP 2020 recommendations by incorporating new provisions in the conduct of the examination,’ the NBSE said.
