The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has made adjustments to the Class 12 mid-term examination schedule. Schools that were unable to administer the Class 12 mid-term exams for 2023 have been instructed to conduct them before September 20 and deliver the results to the board by September 30.
Originally, the Class 12 mid-term exams were planned for August 21 through August 30. The decision to revise the Nagaland Board's Class 12 mid-term exam timetable was prompted by the closure of schools due to the outbreak of eye flu among students.
In a statement announcing the rescheduling of the Class 12 NBSE mid-term exams, the NBSE explained, "Given the increased incidence of Eye Flu or Conjunctivitis among students in specific districts of the state, the respective District Administration has ordered the closure of schools from August 21 to 26 as a preventive measure to interrupt the flu's transmission chain."
The board acknowledged that conducting the Mid-Term Examination for Class 12 in certain districts as originally planned, from August 21 to August 30, would not be feasible due to the school closures. Consequently, schools unable to administer the Mid-Term Examination within the dates specified in the Academic Calendar are now permitted to reschedule the Class 12 Mid-Term Examination and conduct it by September 20, 2023. The results should then be submitted to the Board no later than September 30, 2023.
Since July 1, the state has reported 1,006 cases of eye flu, with Dimapur reporting the highest number of cases at 721, followed by Kohima at 198, and Mokokchung at 87, as per reports from PTI.
