In a recent development, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has announced a significant decision for visually impaired students appearing in the Karnataka 2nd PUC board exams 2024. The board has decided to exempt visually impaired students from practical exams, replacing them with viva voce assessments.
Traditionally, practical exams carry a weightage of 20 marks, but for visually impaired students, the government has allocated these 20 marks for internal assessment. This decision comes as a response to the challenges of recruiting writers for short examinations, mid-year examinations, and engaging in comprehensive projects for students with visual impairment.
The board arrived at this decision after a meeting with senior officials from the Commission for Persons with Disabilities at the Department of School Education (Pre-Graduate). The internal evaluation system for students has been implemented from the current academic year 2023-24, and a circular detailing this decision has been issued to all concerned schools.
For your reference, the Karnataka 2nd PUC board exams are scheduled to take place from March 2 to March 22, 2024. Students and parents who may have objections regarding the exam dates have the opportunity to raise their concerns until December 15.
