The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to tentatively commence the Class 10 and 12 board examinations on February 15, 2023, according to the official notice. Traditionally, the board exam date sheet is usually published in December 2023 on the official website, cbse.gov.in.
The Ministry of Education and recent recommendations from the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) suggest that CBSE board exams will now be conducted biannually, allowing students to retain their best scores. However, CBSE has yet to release an official notice regarding this change.
Under these guidelines, CBSE Board Exams will not be divided into terms but rather two distinct board exams will be held.
For Class 11 and 12, students will be required to study two languages, one of which must be an Indian language. Textbooks for 2024 will be adapted accordingly.
To reduce the pressure associated with board examinations, all students will be permitted to take board exams on at least two occasions during each school year, with only the highest score being considered, as stated by the NCF.
Furthermore, the NCF recommendations emphasize that students should have the freedom to choose subjects in Class 12 without being restricted to traditional streams like Arts, Science, and Commerce. Boards are encouraged to provide flexibility in subject group selection.
CBSE is tentatively planning to conduct exams for both classes starting on February 15, 2024, and concluding on April 10, 2024. In 2023, CBSE Board Exams for Class 10 took place from February 15 to April 5, 2023, and for Class 12 from February 15 to March 21.
