The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently addressed concerns regarding the percentage calculation criteria for Class 10 and 12 board examinations. In response to inquiries about this process, the CBSE issued a notice emphasizing that no overall division, distinction, or aggregate marks will be awarded.
According to the official notice, the CBSE has been receiving requests seeking clarity on the criteria for calculating students' percentages in the board's examinations. It underscores sub-section 40.1 (iii) of Chapter-7 of the Examination Bye-Laws, stating that no overall division, distinction, or aggregate will be conferred.
It's crucial to note that if a candidate has taken more than five subjects, the decision to determine the best five subjects rests with the admitting institution or employer. The CBSE does not handle the calculation or declaration of percentages; this responsibility lies with institutions or employers for higher education or employment purposes.
In anticipation of the upcoming CBSE Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2024, the board is expected to release the date sheet soon. The exams are scheduled to commence from February 15, as announced earlier.
