The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to conduct the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in February-March 2024. However, for students who are actively participating in national or international sports events and international Olympiads, which might coincide with the CBSE board exams, the board has introduced special examination arrangements.
In an official statement, CBSE outlined its commitment to promoting sports and other educational competitions among youth. As part of this commitment, CBSE will offer special exams at a later date for students facing scheduling conflicts between their CBSE board exams and their participation in national and international sports events, including the dates of their journey to these events for the 2024 board exams.
It's important to note that the sports events must be officially recognized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), while the Olympiads should be recognized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).
However, it's worth mentioning that no separate or special CBSE 2024 examination opportunities will be available for compartment exams or practical exams.
Application Process
To take advantage of these special examination arrangements, schools are required to submit applications to the concerned regional office. These applications should include recommendations from the Sports Authority of India and Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, respectively, and must be submitted by December 31. Additionally, a certificate of participation issued by the nodal officers of the respective organizations should be included with the application.
